"Trinkets in the desert"

I was able to finish another model conversion for Dust1947

This time, the Desert Fox got onto my desk - the famous General Erwin Rommel was here.

Rommel is of course a fantastic historical figure and he fits the role of the commander of NDAK (Neues Deutches Afrika Korps) like no one else. However in the case of my army of twisted elite soldiers from the castle of Wolfenstein he lacked the element of madness.
My NDAK was not meant to be a mere desert army, but rather what I called 'Blutkreuz Expeditionskorps' - a significant cog in the machinery of my favorite madmen. They needed a commander who would properly represent what Blutkreuz's command looks like in my head.

Fortunately, I didn't have to think long

As usual, I used the advantage of Dust models being thermoplastic. I heated Rommel with a hairdryer to modify the pose of the legs so they were not spread so much, I lowered the hand with the map slightly and turned the one with the binoculars

I've cut out the binoculars out with a sharp scalpel and in a similar way got rid of the brave general's face replacing it with the previously selected head of zombie

The only problem was Tesseract, fortunately I had some Oyumaru at hand - it's a clear rubbery polymer for making molds for Green Stuff . I cuted out a nice cube from it, put blue glaze and a solid layer of gloss varnish.

A few minutes of painting later Johann Schmidt also known as Red Skull was ready to lead his troops:

I tried to make a light OSL on it. The result is far from ideal but as this is my first attempt to achieve such an effect I am quite satisfied. The next times will definitely be better!
